Pride on the Bridge!

  • Shreveport Regional Arts Council 801 Crockett Street Shreveport, LA, 71101 United States (map)

During June (Pride Month), the Bakowski Bridge of Lights will show “Pride on the Bridge”
June 6 - June 16 and June 21 - June 28

During this month, we want to shed some light on the LGBTQ organizations in the Shreveport Bossier Area.

"Pride month is so much more than a good time but a celebration of the many fights LGBTQ+ people have taken on to ensure for equality and protection of not just themselves but all people."

About Queerport
One of our reasons for starting Queerport was to build a strong and unified, leftist, queer community that could be comfortable growing together while upsetting the status quo, organizing, and making art with people who are fiercely supportive without judgement or input from cishets or the Gay Establishment.

Queerport was designed to give queer creators a platform to write, blog, upload video content and document our history. Our goal is to bring together queer creaives in the south, specifically northwest Louisiana, to share our stories and create commentary on issues that matter to us. We aspire to empower queer youth and give them alternative resources and programming, offering events and workshops throughout the year.

About Out of the Closet

Mission & Vision: We exist to clothe members of the LGBTQIA+ community and other marginalized individuals in need. We aim to bridge gaps and provide support for other organizations with the same inclusive goals by means of comfortable, accessible, and free clothing.

Additional Info: Out Of The Closet exists to clothe members of the LGBTQIA+ community and other marginalized individuals in need with outfits and wardrobes that reflect their truest self.

Donate funds for the storage unit costs: https://bit.ly/3hcX8xw

We hope for this service to be a source of peace as folx transition into an outward appearance that fits their identity, move out of conservative/restrictive homes, or just are in need of clothing for a big move, a new job, etc.

We also aim to bridge geographical gaps in the south and provide support for other organizations with the same gender affirmation goals by means of comfortable, accessible, and free clothing.

So if you're tired of throwing out old clothes or hoarding pieces you'll never wear, we will happily take them off your hands to rehome and give them new life!
